Near Disputed Islands, Japan Confronts Boats From Taiwan

The dispute between Japan and China over islands in the East China Sea has no signs of easing, as the Japanese Coast Guard was seen blasting water at Taiwanese fishing boats near the disputed area Tuesday. It is a worrying conflict to both countries. In my opinion, it will turn into something violent because they are already making physical moves. The fact that the countries are geologically so close to one another, separated only by the East China Sea, makes the tension even higher. What's interesting is that all of this is happening in the anniversary month of Japan's 1931 occupation of China. Could it be a coincidence? And what's up with China putting its first aircraft carrier into service this week? I believe the government wants to prove a point to the Japanese. It is to remind them of China's powerful military capabilities. As the conflict continues, I wonder how it will come to impact the two nations' respective economies. One would think that the current situation has some kind of negative effect on sales but we will all have to wait and see. Overall, I just hope the dispute doesn't get any worse before other countries get dragged into it.
