This article talks about the amount of attention that Canada has given for the War of 1812. This is something that Canada has given exceptional care commemorating in comparison to the US. In Canada, $6.5 million is spent on just television commercials, compared to the US, which is barely spending any money on these commemorations. I think the reason why Canada is putting so much emphasis on this war is to be used as a bragging right. They wanted this war to be seen as Canada’s great victory of repelling its invaders, the US, even though they were not even a country during this time period, almost two hundred years ago. It was mainly just a battle between the US and the British.
